On Stage
Theater That Transforms
For over a decade, Teen HYPE has brought powerful, youth-driven stories to the stage, each production shining a light on critical issues affecting teens and our community. Rooted in the belief that art is activism, these original theatrical works are created by young people, for young people, using their voices to raise awareness, spark dialogue, and drive change.
Each year, the journey from rehearsal to performance transforms everyone involved. For some youth, it’s their very first time stepping onto a stage; for others, it’s an opportunity to deepen their skills and confidence. Along the way, they build courage, discover their voice, and grow into leaders. What begins as practice becomes something much greater: a powerful process of personal development, connection, and self-expression.
UNSEEN
This year’s production, UNSEEN, explored the urgent and often overlooked crisis of missing Black girls through an original, youth-created theatrical experience. This powerful piece examined how systemic failures can render some children invisible to those who should protect them most.
Through compelling performances and honest storytelling, UNSEEN challenged audiences to recognize our shared responsibility in ensuring the safety and well-being of every child. Addressing themes of community vigilance, systemic accountability, and collective action, the production called on all of us not only to bear witness but to take action.
As you meet each of the cast and directing team members who brought this production to life, we invite you to reflect on the impact of their voices and the stories they shared, and to consider the role each of us plays in creating a safer, more just community for all youth.
