Nestasha Steel

Adolescent Health Specialist
Poison Ivy

Nestasha Steel believes every young person deserves the opportunity to grow, dream, and thrive. As a Youth Adolescent Health Specialist, she brings compassion, wisdom, and a deep commitment to youth empowerment into every interaction. A Detroit native with years of experience working with young people, Nestasha has dedicated her career to supporting youth through some of life’s most challenging circumstances while helping them recognize their own strength and potential.

Before joining Teen HYPE, Nestasha worked in residential detention facilities, where she served youth in highly structured environments. She later taught in the educational programs connected to those facilities, helping students continue their learning as they faced many challenges. Her mission was, and still is, to help young people achieve their goals and dreams.

At Teen HYPE, Nestasha found a place where she could continue doing what she loves most: building relationships with young people and helping them navigate life with confidence, knowledge, and hope.

For Nestasha, one of the greatest rewards of her role is the time she spends with students. She values the laughter, honesty, and energy that young people bring into every space. Their curiosity and resilience inspire her daily, and she enjoys creating opportunities for meaningful conversations that encourage growth and self-discovery.

Like her superhero inspiration, Poison Ivy, Nestasha recognizes the power of nurturing growth. Poison Ivy’s connection to the natural world reflects Nestasha’s belief that people, like plants, flourish when they are given the right environment, care, and support. She approaches her work with the understanding that every young person has unique gifts waiting to bloom.

Whether she is facilitating conversations with youth, spending time with family, gardening, working out, or preparing her favorite soul food dishes, Nestasha brings care and intention to everything she does. Her mission is to help young people recognize their worth, embrace their possibilities, and understand that their dreams are not on pause, they are already within reach.
