The Detorit’s Youth Action Plan (DYAP)—commonly called “Youth Master Plan,”—defines the resources, needs, pathways and collective vision for children and youth in the city of Detroit. We see the DYAP as a community roadmap that guides youth toward success, healthy development and wellness. The DYAP is a process that steers young people toward their self-determined destination. Together, we are creating a shared vision for young people, to which we are all accountable. We are the Village.

PHASE 2: ENVISION
We are creating a shared vision for young people that redefines/shifts the narrative around youth as stakeholders and leaders in their own communities, rather than liabilities. Together, we will re-envision success and positive outcomes for Detroit youth.
PHASE 3: ASSESS
We will conduct a comprehensive assessment mapping our community’s strengths, assets, needs and challenges, and develop strategies to leverage and address each in the path forward.
PHASE 4: ACCOUNTABILITY
We know that it’s not enough to plan, so we are ensuring that our ideas move to action by keeping key stakeholders/folks at the table after the planning has been done to implement the programs and policies, setting clear measures for success and specific roles for our partners. We are each accountable for steering young people toward their self-determined destination. roles bench.
PHASE 5: ACTION
To keep this work on track/in motion/To keep the wheel rolling, we will identify trusted leaders to monitor our progress and sustain collaborative partnerships.
